Sautéed Almonds & Green Beans
You may have seen that I recently had my panty and kitchen organized by Candace Greer at Art & Order which was an amazing process and eye opening. Exactly how many products am I storing in my kitchen that I don’t use? It was like moving without moving. Everything that I use has a more purposeful home. Unlike when we moved in and it just needed to get out of packing boxes.
Candace put my pantry goods in labeled glass jars so I can actually see what I have, need to use and what I need to refill. Genius! In her findings, she pulled out some unroasted slivered almonds and voilà an idea was born. Sautéed Slivered Almonds and Green Beans is a perfect complement to any main dish. It’s quick and tasty.
Sautéed Slivered Almonds and Green Beans
12 oz of fresh green beans
2 tbs of avocado oil
2 tbs of slivered almonds
¼ cup of slivered sweet onions
2 cloves of garlic
½ cup of vegetable broth
Dash of salt
Dash of Cajun Seasoning
Rinse green beans
In a medium sized skillet on medium heat, combine avocado oil, sweet onions and garlic
Sauté for 10 minutes until onions begin to soften
Add slivered almonds and continue cooking until almonds start to brown
Add green beans and stir for a few minutes
Add vegetable broth, stir and cover. The broth boiled for me at a medium heat.
Cook until green beans are softened to your desired preference and season with salt and Cajun Seasoning. (I like my green beans a bit crunchy. For me this was 7 minutes. Extended cooking time will yield softer green beans)
