The tennis season is here and I haven’t’ picked up a racquet since May. There isn’t time to practice so I guess I either hit the fence first or it will be like riding a bike. We’ll see what happens at 9am.. Should be interesting. I am all fueled up for chasing little yellow balls after eating this smoothie bowl. Today’s bowl had ½ cup of frozen raspberries, ½ avocado, 4 frozen strawberries, 1 scoop of vanilla plant based protein powder and ½ cup of nondairy milk. Blend
It’s no secret that replacing a meal with a fruit & veggie filled plant based protein smoothie will help knock off those unwanted pounds and since I ate cake yesterday, I’m on the smoothie wagon today. The keys are to make the shake hardy enough that you don’t need to eat a meal too and that you don’t put too many sugary fruit options to avoid a crash. I had a really tough Lagree workout at Body Factory this morning with a whole lot of muscle shaking going on so this is a gr
I am inspired to bring awareness to a group of Louisiana people affectionately known as the Cajun Navy. These individuals are our neighbors, friends, and family who drop everything to head out in their own small boats to disaster areas to rescue people from flood waters. When I saw that the Cajun Navy was heading to Houston I was filled with pride to be from an area where love is the language that serves. Being from South Louisiana I have witnessed and lived through many hu
Rain, Rain go away or I’ll keep cooking…. There is something about rainy days that make me want to cook and bake and cook and bake. What else are we going to do? Why we’ll play Barbie’s, do art projects and puzzles of course. No school means I am the key entertainment for my 4-year-old. This will be on repeat tomorrow as we await more rain. She is requesting vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. That will give us a project tomorrow J This weather makes me want something comfort
There is a lot of anticipation in knowing a storm is headed your way. Food, water, gasoline, batteries, and generators are on the top of the list. Thankfully our stove is powered by natural gas so if the electricity goes out, we can still cook. The refrigerators and freezers are powered by generators and a web of extension cords. We “make do” as my grandmother would say. We’ll meet the new neighbors and feed whoever shows up. Schools out and a storm is a coming. This
I received the most beautiful flower arrangement from my husband. He was giddy when it arrived so I knew it was no "average" flower in a box. And I was right. Have you heard about Farmgirl Flowers? I hadn't until today. Wow! These flowers are proof he is on track with cleaning things up around here. Who knew that ethically grown flowers could be part of our solution.
Bravo Farmgirl Flowers 🎉. Thank you for the beautiful flowers and the great experience. ❤️❤️❤️ the packagi

GF/DF Cashew Butter Overnight Oats I was first introduced to overnight oats 2 summers ago. I was flipping through a health magazine and the concept of cold oatmeal caught my attention. Especially since it was 90+ degrees outside. Hardy yet refreshing and I could hide all kinds of nutrients in the jar. If you have a hard workout ahead this is a great opportunity to load up on a high fiber low glycemic index food that will sustain you through lunch and beyond. The combinati
